Repair of cervical tear

Bleeding cervical laceration after birth.

Steps

  1. Good light, analgesia, an assistant.
  2. Retractors; walk round the cervix with sponge forceps.
  3. First suture 1 cm above the apex.
  4. 2-0 absorbable, continuous or interrupted, to the free edge.
Apex not seen or tear into lower segment: laparotomy.
