Treat even asymptomatic bacteriuria in pregnancy.
Source: NICE NG109, NG111Nitrofurantoin MRCystitis100 mg twice daily for 7 days.⚠ Avoid at term.
CefalexinCystitis, second line500 mg twice daily for 7 days.
AmoxicillinIf sensitive500 mg three times a day for 7 days.
Cefuroxime IVPyelonephritis750 mg–1.5 g every 6–8 hours, then oral to complete 7–10 days.⚠ Admit.
Avoid trimethoprim in the first trimester (folate antagonist). Send a culture and do a test of cure.
