Dinoprostone gelIOLPrimigravida unfavourable 2 mg; others 1 mg; further 1–2 mg after 6 h. Max 4 mg / 3 mg.⚠ Not with a uterine scar.
Dinoprostone tabletIOL3 mg vaginal; repeat once after 6–8 h. Max 6 mg.
Dinoprostone insert (Propess)IOL10 mg over 24 h; remove at 24 h, in labour, ROM or hyperstimulation.⚠ Wait ≥30 min after removal before oxytocin.
Misoprostol (oral)IOL25 micrograms every 2 h or 50 micrograms every 4 h; max 200 micrograms/24 h.⚠ Hyperstimulation may be harder to reverse.
OxytocinIOL / augmentationStart 1–4 milliunits/min; increase 1–2 mU/min every 20–30 min; licensed max 20 mU/min.⚠ Only after amniotomy. Stop if ≥5 contractions in 10 min.
TerbutalineHyperstimulation250 micrograms subcutaneously.⚠ Maternal tachycardia; avoid in cardiac disease.
