Pre-operative checklist
Before any gynae operation.
Source: NICE NG45 · RCOG- FBC (correct anaemia — IV iron if time), U&E, group and save.
- Pregnancy test.
- Medical problems and ASA grade; anticoagulants, antiplatelets, the pill and HRT.
- VTE risk assessment.
- Consent including specific risks.
- ECG if over 65 or heart disease; HbA1c if diabetic.
- Cervical screening up to date; endometrial sample if abnormal bleeding.
- Fasting: solids 6 hours, clear fluids 2 hours.
